The world of SEO has its own specialized language (lingo) that can be quite intimidating at times. Many of the sites and discussion boards you will visit that offer in-depth information about search engines or talks about Search Engine Optimization, you may have found yourself baffled by keywords like SEM, SERPs, SEP and many more countless seemingly esoteric words used by SEO professionals.

With every day passing Search Engines are getting smarter. Two years back the tricks that used to work great is no longer holds good and one of them is ”Reciprocal Linking”.
The number of outbound links should always be significantly less then your inbound links that too from Quality sites in order to get a healthy pagerank. You should not link to anyone and everyone from your site just for Reciprocal link and it should in some way relate to your site content. Try to get quality link partners and submit to Free Directories under Proper Category with well phrased Anchor Text.
Now how can we say that Reciprocal link doesnt work?
Well if that would have been true then sites like: LinksPartner.com & LinksManager.com would not have PR0 & PR1 respectively. Even through personal experience of managing over 30+ websites it has been noticed that its not effective anymore and even risks your current site PR.

We all want our websites to be listed on Top on the Search Engines so that people can find us easily and before our competitors.
Search Engine Optimization is not that difficult as it is made to appear by many SEO Professionals. And every webmaster can do the basic SEO for their website.
But before you start I would like to make the following points:
1. It requires a lot of patience.
2. Start with getting a listing on DMOZ.ORG greatly improves your site visibility to the Search Engines and it automatically gets you links on many other websites which takes feed from DMOZ.
3. Participate in community Message Boards related to your website. For example if you have a website on Stock Trade and it will be good to participate in sites like moneycontrol.com. equitymaster.com, traderji.com but dont spam. Your posts should be meaningful and should not appear to be a promotional for your website. Once established as a regular member you can let the large community know about your website. Its a long drawn process but helps you in gaining knowledge about what others are thinking and doing in that field.
4. If you do find some time while surfing you come across some popular website then do sign their GuestBook with your website link.
5. Last but not the least always use genuine methods. Avoid using Doorway pages or any Black Hat techniques until you are sure what you are doing
Cheers,
Vijay
